Dispatch
Police Dispatchers are required to make quick decisions and coordinate multiple events. When the crisis strikes, our dispatch center has to maintain control of a situation and prioritize.
Our dispatchers must complete several phases of classroom and on the job training. Training includes answering 911, non-emergency and informational phone calls; entering relevant information into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system; receiving and dispatching calls for police units in Junction City, Coburg Police Departments; Lane Community College; and Junction City Fire/Medical units. They maintain accurate status and location of police and fire units; and develop daily computerized logs of all field calls and units dispatched. They are responsible for entering and maintaining all records to warrant and report data.
In addition our dispatchers monitor, feed and care for all inmates lodged in the Junction City Police Departments Jail. They issue and maintain all dog licenses and burn permits in the city and fire district.
Dispatchers must successfully complete the initial test, oral interview, background investigation, psychological interview and medical evaluation before being hired with the department.
