The City Council

The Community of Junction City

For the past six months the Public Safety Committee and the City Council have been working with the police department and citizens examining the present conditions and future trends of Junction City and the police department in an effort to develop a five-year strategic plan for police services.

The report being presented to you is the product of all our work.  It establishes goals, policies, and strategies for police service for the next five years and in all likelihood beyond that.  It will serve as a roadmap and a framework for future decisions.

Over the next five years Junction City will grow.  We already know that a new Bi-Mart store, an 800-housing development, and a Department of Corrections Prison Facility are planned.  This development presents both opportunities and challenges that must be planned for Junction City.  The Strategic Plan for Police Services does that.

The Public Safety Committee wishes to thank the City Council, city administration, members of the police department and all the citizens who participated in the development of this Plan.

Sincerely,

Herb Christensen, City Councilor

Chair of Public Safety Committee

Other Public Safety Committee Members:  Paul Kellerman, Shirley Kaping
