RESOLUTION NO. 788
A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE ADOPTION
OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN FOR POLICE SERVICES (2003-2008).
WHEREAS,
effective and efficient police services is a high priority goal for the City
Council;
WHEREAS,
on April 16, 2002 the City Council directed the Police Chief to work in concert
with department members, the Public Safety Committee and others to:
1.
Develop findings related to existing police services;
2.
Gather information on trends and issues affecting police
services; and
3.
Develop a five-year police services plan to include goals,
policies, and strategies for each administrative and operational service
provided by the police department.
WHEREAS,
a Strategic Plan for Police Services (2003-2008) has been completed that meets
the established City Council objectives; and
WHEREAS,
the Public Safety Committee has recommended adoption of the Strategic Plan for
Police Services.
Section
1: The Police Chief in concert with
members of the Police Department, the Public Safety Committee, and others has
developed a strategic plan for police services that is consistent with
direction provided by the City Council and which provides a desirable direction
for the provision of police services for the period FY03 through FY08.
Section
2: Based upon the above findings,
the goals and policies included in the Strategic Plan for Police Services
(2003-2008) are hereby adopted.
Section
3: The recommended strategies
included in the Plan are recognized as potential means for implementing the
adopted goals and policies but are not adopted as City policies.
Section
4: The City Council directs that
fiscal implementation of the adopted goals and policies shall be considered
each year during the annual budget process and is contingent upon available
resources.
Section
5: A copy of this resolution,
Resolution No. 788, shall be attached to the final version of the Strategic
Plan for Police Services (2003-2008).
